WhatsApp spreads of fake news, the Centre has directed the messaging platform WhatsApp to come out for the solutions that can bring in facilitate enforcement of law against dissemination of wrong information. The government Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir said that the government has taken note of reports about spread of fake news in WhatsApp platform. WhatsApp is very important to India’s everyday life, WhatsApp groups are used to spread news about what happening in local communities and messages are forwarded to multiple groups and friends at once. WhatsApp messages have been blamed for Fake news, Users are rapidly spread of Fake images and videos. As a result, India has found itself in the unenviable position when it comes to internet shutdowns. Analysts say the shutdowns have cost India billions of dollars and damaged the country’s online reputation being blamed on rumours about fake news spreads on WhatsApp.

WhatsApp which uses end-to-end encryption not even the company can read the content by user privacy. Some civil society members have also cautioned against asking WhatsApp to break its encryption, which they say could potentially lead to censorship. The company has also come under fire from the Indian government, with the electronics and IT ministry asking it in July to figure out a mechanism to trace problematic forwarded messages. Local district magistrate Amrit Tripathi told That rumour about the death of an injured girl could have disrupted the peaceful environment. Tripathi said audio and video messages were getting shared on social media sites. As part of the police investigation, three people including group administrator were arrested for sharing messages on WhatsApp and also WhatsApp played a major role in political campaigning and the spread of fake news. One of the videos tells the story of a young man who has moved away from home and uses WhatsApp to stay in touch with his family. When his uncle forwards a fake news message on the family group, he calls him to tell him that he should not share such rumours and convinces him to leave that such group's from where he sourced the offending message.

In India, the company has limited the number of chats to which one can forward a message to five "instead of the global standard of 20", and introduced a tag that indicates when a message is a forward. The company is also actively banning accounts that exhibit suspicious like spam. It has reportedly banned around 300,000 (paywall) India-based accounts for such reasons. Ahead of India’s next general election, WhatsApp is taking to primetime airwaves to curb misinformation on its platform. WhatsApp has at least 200 million users in India. Fake news has become a life and death issue in India lately. Many incidents of violence, have been allegedly linked to online rumours. Fake news and rumor circulation are growing day by day in India via WhatsApp. Honestly, people are sometime foolish and even more stupidity to expect any maturity from the people.
If you're not sure a is message is true or fake, ask the sender or search online for conformation, check the site is trusted or not before share and where the story came from. if there is fake news, tell the person that sent it to you and ask them to verify information before they share it. Don't share fake messages because of someone tell you to do so, if anybody tell you to share fake news report them.
